Stencil Canvas and Organization

Today I share my canvas I created using Heidi Swapp's Stencils from Michaels and some tips from Heidi's Stencil Magic online class that's self paced with videos and pdfs.

Here's some tips on how you can store your stencils.   I store mine in a 12x12 storage box you can get from Michaels. I like that I can toss my stencils in when I'm finished with it.
Another you can use a 12x12 page protector that has 6x6 slots by We R Memory Keepers for your 6x6 stencils as well as a 12x12 page protector for your 12x12 stencils in a binder.  Or if you like you can place your 12x12 that has your 6x6 stencils in the box too.  Hope this helps on how to organize your stencils.

#hshometown in San Francisco

I'm loving all the rest of the Media Teams sharing their hometown.  It's amazing to experience where they live through their perspective.  It's my turn on Heidi Swapp's blog today to share where I live.
San Francisco.  This view is from Treasure Island.  It's right off the Bay Bridge and you can stop their to get a beautiful shot of San Francisco's skyline.  How Gorgeous is that?  SF lends itself to have many historical landmarks such the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz an island that housed notorious criminals and cable cars just to name a few.
I created a Memory File Album to highlight some of what you can find in what we call The City.

Here's more photos of San Francisco.  We just love it here.  There's so much you can do.  If you want to shop you can take a trip to Union Square where there are a vast number of high end stores, Westfield Mall which has Nordstrom, Bloomingdale and many more other stores.  Night life is big there too.  There are so many night clubs, restaurants, bars, venues to watch opera and music concerts.  Food is amazing there too!  There are so many to choose from and so many different types of food.  It's endless.  Our favorite ice creamery is called Bi Rite.  My daughter request to stop by for their Salted Caramel ice cream all the time.  We've tried other salted caramel elsewhere but nothing tastes like theirs.

There's just so much to see and do in this city.  Check out this video and more photos of The City (San Francisco) or this video.

Oh and here's a video of those sea lions at Pier 39 I was talking about.

Catching up on Heidi Swapp Memory File Adventure

How's your Memory File Adventure going?  Here's my take of WEEK 7 Maggie's theme FOOD.  I gotta say once I read her angle on her theme surrounding our memories with food, I immediately thought of my Family and my cultural traditions around it.  In my culture, being Filipino we just love our filipino food.  Our parties or gatherings are filled with an insane amount of food.  Just in case you're ever at a Filipino party expect to eat A LOT!  So I suggest save your appetite until then.  (wink) I'm so lucky to have a Mom and Grandma (no longer with us)   who know how to cook and it taste so yummy!  I also learned how to cook from them although, I don't cook everything that they cook.  I at least know a few dishes.
Here's my take on Maggie's theme of HS Memory File Adventure.

I used her own creation of a pdf file where you can download here.  I used Heidi Swapp's "LOVE" digi brush  and typed onto the card then printed it.    Matted it onto a piece of Pink Pasilee Portfolio paper and added a couple of Color Pop Banner Delights.

To the right is the other pdf card.  I adhered a photo, added some Black & White Buzz words and a piece of the Color Pop Banner Delight placed a piece of washi tape at the top so that it would flip over to reveal more photos.  One of the photos is a favorite by many people... it's called LUMPIA.  It's so yummy!    I again used Heidi's digi words "favorite" and "love" to my photos.  Added a Vintage Chic Notes and "family" Black and White Buzz word.

Hope you're having fun on your adventure and I can't wait to see your creations

HEIDI SWAPP MEMORY FILE ADVENTURE.....WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

Welcome and I hope you're excited for todays adventure... What INSPIRES you? This one is a big one.   I mean literally, everyday there are inspirations everywhere.  My mind is on constant mode in thinking of what can I create.  It's just who I am.  So, I bring you to this adventure this week to think not only WHAT inspires you but  WHERE you get your inspirations.  On the first page I've created a Fotostack so that you can add  photos, lists and journal about where you get your inspirations.  You can take photos from the store where you see a cute chevron print or a design that caught your eye.  Any kind of inspiration...add it to here.  Take a look at Heidi Swapp's blog where I have more details of my pages.

Here I used part of a Fotostack and sewed them together or you can staple them together.

Just to continue with the PINTEREST theme I added the "P" symbol to my page.

Mini Instaframes are used to mimic my Pinterest board.

On this page, my INSPIRATION BOARD are a number of photos that I just love whether it be cameras, the banners, the typography, color and style.  I studied them and pulled out my coordinated papers and embellishments to create my layout.

Here's my layout that those elements inspired me to create.  I just love the layers, colors and this photo of my daughter is my fave!

These paper flowers by Heidi Swapp at Michaels were inspired by that photo of the bowl with the flowers on my inspiration board.

The "love" I created was cut with my Silhouette Cameo and sprayed with Color Shine.

The last two pages I cut the top portion and sewed the edges to create a pocket file folder.  In this pocket you can add any magazine clippings, photos etc.
With the extra strip at the top I sewed a pocket  that has a little Vintage Chic notecard.

Here I added a notecard that sits in the Clear Pop bare pocket.

I had so much fun creating these pages.  I hope that you will continue your adventure with us by posting them on Facebook, instagram tagging us #hsmemoryfileadventure #heidiswapp.

Enjoy!

Our heavy hearts

Yesterday we had to say goodbye to our sweet and beloved Abby.  She is no longer suffering anymore. We miss her so much!  I never knew that a dog can make such an impact in your life.  This was my first dog that I was very close to and our first dog as a family.  My daughter and Abby had such a great relationship. Unconditional love.  I am so glad because of my hobby and my love for photography.. I have a lot of photos that well keep our memory alive.  This is why I scrapbook.  I want to remember.
Here's a little excerpt my husband wrote for our family and friends on FB:

Abby was a rescue dog. The story goes she was found in someone's backyard tied to a pole in a bathtub. Her original name was "Pele", after the Hawaiian goddess of fire. The SFSPCA rescued her, and when she was 3, Abby was adopted by a young couple. She was a city dog who loved being with her new mom and dad, whom they loved and cared for her like Abby was their only child. They were the ones who gave her the name Abby. Although I’m not sure who she was named after, I like to say that she was named after one of my favorite Beatles albums.

In April 2008, we were so blessed that Abby was a part of our lives. As a new addition to our family, we moved Abby out to the suburbs at age 7. From that point on, Abby would never leave our side. We will never forget all the walks/jogs around the neighborhood, the trips we would take to all the different the parks and beaches, the family parties we would bring her to… Abby loved being around family and made friends everywhere she went.

There will never be a better friend like you, Abby. You are a part of us, and we will never forget you. We will miss you.

She's such an easy going dog.  She didn't even care that I had put these reindeer ears and took a picture of her.

They loved each other so very much.

All she wants is our LOVE.

Always near whenever I scrapped.

Farewell Abby.  We love you very much!!  You were THE BEST DOG EVER!
Love always,

mom, dad and Ella
