Hybrid apron and frame

I'm having so much fun with Heidi's digi products that my head spins with all the possibilities!  Digi and Silhouette?  Well...if you don't own one this is a MUST HAVE on your crafters wish list.  You definitely won't be disappointed.  Remember back in September Heidi Swapp came to visit Art Inspired Studios and teach 3 wonderful Memory Files classes?  I was so excited to create something that would scream "Heidi Swapp" where it would be a fun way to display a signed photo of her and my love of instax along with her instaframe.  My BFF helped me sew the lace because well, I'm still learning so I didn't want to make a mistake.  You're the best!  What would a project be without a big colorful flower?  White Tulle was gathered and sewn, misted and blinged out.  It's just so gorgeous! I cut the 'Awesome' and banner png from Heidi's digi cut files into my Silhouette SD using Silhouette's flocked iron on transfer material. This gave it some nice soft texture to the apron.  I did the same with the  digi camera, 'love this' and beautiful pennant except I used plain white cardstock.  I used a skewer and cut it to the size I needed to add the embellishments.  Use the trace and cut instructions after resizing how you want it.  Watch the trace and cut tutorial video that Heidi provided.   Open up the instaframe png file in silhouette adjust the size and print it on Rangers Sticky back Canvas by Claudine Helmuth.  I then cut and glued the page protector to the opening to give it more protection.  Hot glue gun works great!  Don't forget to leave an opening at the top for your photo.
Check out Heidi Swapp's blog for more and she posted a How to Print and cut using your Silhouette.  Love it!!

Here's me and my beautiful BFF, Lisa sporting our aprons at the event.

Hope I've inspired you to create your own apron to create and get messy with while making pretty stuff.

It just makes me happy what I can create with digi and my Silhouette!  I would love to see all of your creations.  Post on my Facebook wall or on instagram #heididigi.  Follow me on IG mdettec.  Have fun creating!

Hybrid Color Shine Frame

I'm so in awe with Heidi's new COLOR SHINE collection that I just had to create a home decor that would show off the bright and fun irridescent colors.  Color Shine can spray on fabric and wood just BEAUTIFULLY!!  I've taken this gorgeous ornate wooden frame you can get at your local craft store and I sprayed Primrose then Black Velvet over it which gave a dark wood finish.  I love Pink Paislee's Artisan collection which are fabulous with Heidi's Color Shine!  I used the scallop ribbon to create the ruffles as a backdrop.  I cut them into strips and sprayed them with different colors (black velvet, primrose, tropicana teal, tinsel and mustard) then adhered them to Color Magic paper.   I wanted to mimic my photo booth backdrop that was shown on Heidi's blog a few days ago to create a mini book frame of the event to display.  Just like the lifesize pennant/instaframe banners I printed these all from Heidi's Digi shop. I then sewed them together so to make sure they swag across the page.  I did this separately from the page or you can sew it onto the page as well.  I'm loving this sewing on everything deal!    The mini book itself is as simple as  attaching the photos with brads.  On the back of the cover I used Vintage Chic paper, Chic notesSugar chic buzz word and Neon washi tape. Such a simple, colorful and fun way to display your love for pretty things.

Check out Heidi's video on Scrapbook.com. as she demos the beautiful colors of Color Shine.  Also, Scrapbook.com is having a special.  Buy 3 get the 4th Color shine FREE!  Now that's a deal.
